The Color Red

The Color Red - A Quiz by Patty Gillespie with photos by Dick Todd and Patty Gillespie

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, so here’s a quiz about red, the color of holly berries, of cold noses on sleigh-riding children and of Santa’s suit.

Hey, answer this first of the true-or-false questions, but consider whether you’ve been naughty or nice:

Just as Clement Clark Moore’s poem states,Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound; he was dressed all in red from his head to his foot,” yes, St. Nicholas will be visiting.

The correct answer is false! Why? Because the words of Moore’s poem say that St. Nicholas was “dressed all in fur from his head to his foot,” not dressed all in red.
